Weekly Workshop Schedule Each Leadership Development
Institute kicks off with once weekly virtual discussion/workshops. The Ambassadors are placed
in discussion groups of 12-20 (dependent upon total registration). Each group meets one evening per week for four weeks. The meeting sessions are 90 minutes long. The general
topics are described below. Sessions are supported by interim email interactions emphasizing group interaction on a variety of related topics. Facilitators insure that discussions are lively, interactive, and informative.
Leadership 101: Exploration of definitions. Discussion about the importance of having a vision. Sharing of leadership experiences. Introduction of the Leadership Development Action Plan (LDAP)
Week One
Discussion of leadership styles and influencing factors. Further discussion of leadership as a choice. Continued discussion of personal attributes, and requisite skills contributing to effective leadership
Week Two
Discussion about the history of student-led movements. Initiation of discussion related to conflict and conflict management. Continued discussion of personal attributes and requisite skills contributing to effective leadership.
Week Three
Discussion about real leadership and community leadership opportunities available to all. Continued discussion of current issues and the impacts effective youth leadership may have. Facilitator will discuss and review preparation for intensive sessions.
