The Eastern Region is happy to continue the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. mandate to serve youth and particularly young men by implementing its annual Leadership Development Institute (LDI) programming. The 2022 Leadership Development Institute season will convene its first intensive portion April 7 - 10 in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the Tropicana Atlantic City Boardwalk Hotel Resort and Casino—the site of the 2022 Eastern Region Convention (ERC). After a two year COVID-19 related hiatus, we are ecstatic to re-convene LDI (ERC). In addition to its traditional programming, LDI (ERC) will include new and innovative features consistent with the long tradition of providing quality service to our youth. Check this site frequently to learn more about LDI (ERC)

Though subject to change as we continue to monitor COVID-19 transmission rates, we are pleased to announce a return to on-site summer programming. The Anthony L. Cheatham Leadership Development Institute (South) will commence in early June and culminate with its onsite program from June 23-26, 2022 in Philadelphia, PA. The Leadership Development Institute (North) program will commence in late June and culminate with its onsite program from July 21-24, 2022, in New York, NY.

Ambassadors

During the Leadership Development Institute, Ambassadors serve as representatives of their schools, communities, and homes. The Eastern Region Convention Host Committee selects local Ambassador participants for LDI (ERC). Ambassadors of the other Institute programs are selected and primarily sponsored by chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. However other civic organizations, individuals, or parents/guardians may sponsor Ambassadors. During LDI, these young envoys demonstrate maturity, character, scholarship and service—all of the fundamental qualities required for leadership. Fraternity members, workshop facilitators, and community representatives nurture the leadership and personal growth potential of each Ambassador. Ambassadors are provided leadership opportunities beyond LDI, and become messengers of hope and pride who are able to make a difference in their home, school, and communities.
