Leadership Development Institute

The Eastern Region is happy to continue the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. mandate to serve
youth and particularly young men by holding its annual Leadership Development Institute (LDI).
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, LDI will occur as a web-based program.  The LDI leadership team
and staff have developed an Institute that contains most of the elements resident in our
traditional Institutes.  All chapters are encouraged to sponsor Ambassadors.  The 2020 Institute is
robust, comprehensive, and effective.  This is a great opportunity for chapter's to enhance their
mentoring programs with a great summer development experience.  The registration fee is low
and the benefits are high!  We are looking forward to a great LDI!
During the Leadership Development Institute, Alpha Ambassadors serve as representatives of
their schools, communities, and homes.  These young men are selected and primarily sponsored
by chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  During and prior to the LDI, these young envoys
demonstrate maturity, character, scholarship and service; all of the fundamental qualities
required for leadership.  Fraternity members, workshop facilitators, and community
representatives nurture the leadership and personal growth potential of each ambassador.  
Ambassadors are provided leadership opportunities beyond LDI and become messengers of
hope and pride who are able to make a difference in their home school and communities.  
Ambassadors

Be a young man who possesses a cumulative
grade point average of at least 2.0/4.0

Be a rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grader

Be actively involved in the community

Have a committed interest in participating in
personal development

Possess a high moral and ethical character

Demonstrate self respect and respect for others

Be willing to challenge his own social,
interpersonal, and creative skills
Ambassador Eligibility
Identify Your Sponsored Ambassadors Now!
The registration fee for the 2020 LDI is $50 per Ambassador  Chapters identify their
Ambassadors by submitting the
web-based Chapter/Organization Registration Form.  Once LDI
staff receives registration forms, each Ambassador is contacted and asked to complete the
registration process.  
Step by Step Procedure to Participation
Step 1
Complete and submit the online Chapter/Organization
Registration Form Up to six Ambassadors may be identified on
one form
Step 2
Pay Ambassador Invoice upon receipt (check, money order,
credit/debit card)
Step 3
LDI staff will obtain completed Ambassador Registration Form
and send a copy to sponsoring chapter
Step 4
Chapter/Organization will be copied on all correspondence
sent to Ambassador
